Effective safety training that couldn’t reach the workers who needed it most
The Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) is the province’s authority on construction safety training, including asbestos awareness — a topic that affects workers across construction, renovation, demolition, and maintenance industries. Their instructor-led program was well-regarded but inherently limited by classroom delivery.
Workers in rural areas had to travel to attend training. Employers had to coordinate schedules around session dates. And instructor variability meant the experience differed from session to session — a concern for safety training with regulatory implications.
A scenario-based conversion that enhanced what made the classroom work

Scenario-based learning
Learners encounter realistic workplace situations — discovering suspicious materials during a renovation, making decisions about how to proceed safely, determining when to call in specialists — and practice making the right calls.

Visual identification exercises
High-quality imagery and interactive visual exercises help learners recognize asbestos-containing materials in various states and settings — actually enhanced beyond what was possible in the classroom.

Cross-industry relevance
Content was designed so that a plumber, an electrician, and a general contractor each encounter scenarios relevant to their work, with practical assessment built around applied decision-making.
Working with Neovation’s Custom Learning team was a great experience. From start to finish, our project was organized and managed with clarity and transparency. Their expertise, creativity, and commitment to quality were evident, and we appreciate the effort they put into making our project a success.
